“Saga nori” from the Ariake Sea is also known for its high quality.
In Saga City, a famous seaweed producing area, there are seaweed manufacturers everywhere, and Saga seaweed is sold at local prices at direct sales outlets.
In the Ariake Sea, there are about 300,000 seaweed nets spread out, and the seaweed fishing grounds cover an area of about 9,000 hectares.
People in Saga Prefecture have large stocks of nori in their homes, and while what is commonly sold in stores is roasted nori, the type eaten by people in Saga Prefecture is dried nori, which is typically roasted before eating.
