タコ天(タコ足の天ぷら)<Octopus leg tempura>

Takoten (octopus leg tempura) is served at over 100 restaurants throughout Hiroshima Prefecture.

Octopus tempura is usually served with a single octopus leg.
They also come in large sizes over 30cm long.

Along with the one-legged style, the type cut into bite-sized pieces is also popular.

The batter is flavored so it’s delicious without any tempura sauce.
Mihara City, a common octopus production area, is where the muscular, meaty brand of octopus known as “Yassa Tako” is caught.

Also effective in recovering from fatigue.

At first, it became popular among the general public as a fisherman’s meal that octopus hunters could eat quickly and easily on their boats or on the shore.

In eastern Japan, water octopus, which has more water than true octopus, is commonly caught, so the flesh is soft and it is generally eaten raw.

The cooking of tako, like takoten, does not seem to have spread in Tokyo and other areas.
